Final scene analysis

“Made in America” was the final episode in the final series of the soprano’s. It’s conclusion was not an epic conclusion, but, like a lot of series finales, was a perfect summation of the series’ message. I have included a video on my blog that explains step by step why David Chase concluded the soprano’s in the way he did.

Ultimately, we see no real resolution, infact we have no real idea what goes on after the screen turns black. Maybe David Chase is simply putting us in the shoes of Tonys victims, and those touched by the Soprano family. We see no resolution to the show, just as the relatives of Tony’s victims see no motive in the murder of their loved ones. Chase may be putting at rest some criticism he has received, that he has glamorised the gangster to far in making them enviable to the audience. Arguably, we see the show end with Tony’s death showing there may well be some justice in New jersey.
